Detmaster MD - Multi-Function Width Measurement System

Detmaster MD is a width measurement system, which is simultaneously able to detect edge cracks and holes. This multi-function width measurement system replaces several measurement gauges dedicated for single measurement purposes.

The primary advantages of the Detmaster MD system compared to the traditional width gauges are:

• Detmaster MD system measures the width of the strip with an accuracy of ± 0.4 mm (3 sigma) on-line.
• Detmaster MD system is able to detect additionally edge cracks and holes from size 0.8 mm up.
• Detmaster MD system tolerates remarkable variation in thickness range of strips and plates under measurement i.e. also width of hot rolled / pickled material is measured accurately
• Detmaster MD system doesn't need any mechanical edge following units because it includes active optical edge detection method.
• Ambient light doesn't interfere to the operation of the Detmaster MD system because it comprises frequency modulated light sources.
• Detmaster MD system includes LED light sources, which have average lifetime of 290 years with constant light intensity.
• Detmaster MD system doesn't include any component, which needs to be changed frequently. It is practically maintenance free system.
• Detmaster MD system informs the position of each edge crack and hole in MD (machine direction) with an accuracy of 1 mm and the position of each hole in CD (cross direction) with an accuracy of 12.5 mm.
• Detmaster MD system enables categorisation of different size holes and edge cracks to own size classes. The operator of the Detmaster MD system may determine the range for each hole and edge crack size class.
• Detmaster MD system provides on a graphical user interface a coil report, which indicates the strip width information as well as location and size of each individual hole and edge crack in a concerned coil.
• Detmaster MD system can be pulled out of the line for verification and maintenance purposes with a roll out system automatically without disturbing running of the process line.
• Detmaster MD system comprises a slotted calibration bar for width measurement calibration.
• Detmaster MD system comprises optionally dynamic verification tools for easy hole detection performance verification = motor controlled rotating disc including certified hole samples simulating the actual production line speed.
• Detmaster MD system measures accurately the width of the strip as well as detects holes and edge cracks with the line speeds up to 2000 m/min.
